Highlassies fall to Eastern Oklahoma

WILBURTON, Okla. (January 4, 2013) -- The McLennan Highlassies fell to the Eastern Oklahoma Lady Mountaineers 79-70 tonight in Wilburton, Okla.

MCC opened the game on a 6-0 run and extended the lead to seven with 13:59 to go in the first half. Eastern Oklahoma rallied to take the 21-20 lead. The Highlassies ended the half on a 21-8 run to take the 41-29 advantage at the break.

The Lady Mountaineers opened the second half on a 17-1 run to take the 46-42 lead. Eastern Oklahoma extended the lead to 12 with 3:29 remaining in the game. MCC cut the lead to five but the Lady Mountaineers went 4-4 from the free throw line in the final 20 seconds to seal the win.

Cha'Zaye Wright led the Highlassies with 26 points and Sondra Flippin scored 10.

MCC returns to action on Jan. 12, traveling to Weatherford for the conference opener at 2 p.m.
