Highlassies Fall In Region V Tournament

(March 9, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlassies season came to an end with a 74-62 loss to the New Mexico Lady Thunderbirds tonight in the opening round of the Region V Tournament in Lubbock.

New Mexico opened the game on a 17-2 run, building a 15-point lead with 11:36 to play in the first half. But MCC fought back, cutting the lead to eight with 1:25 to go. The Lady Thunderbirds held the 32-23 advantage at the break.

MCC cut the lead to five early in the second half but New Mexico pulled away again. The Lady Thunderbirds used a 13-2 run to take a 16-point lead with 16:31 to go in the game. New Mexico extended the lead to 19. MCC cut the lead to 12 several times down the stretch but was unable to recover.

Sophomore Taylor Collier led the Highlassies with 18 points.

The Highlassies end the season with an overall record of 12-18.
