HOUSTON (July 18, 2012) -- Jeremy Lin loved New York, but was sold on the Houston Rockets' sales pitch.

Lin released a statement through the Rockets on Wednesday, one day after the New York Knicks decided not to match Houston's bold three-year, $25 million offer sheet. The 23-year-old undrafted point guard out of Harvard became a global sensation when he came from obscurity and turned turn the Knicks into winners in February.

Lin says he "loved this past year with the Knicks and truly appreciate the opportunity that New York gave me." He called his brief stint in New York "extraordinary" and "unforgettable."

The Rockets waived Lin in December, but Lin was impressed with the Rockets' aggressive pursuit to reacquire him.
