Houston Takes Lamb, White, Jones In First Round

(June 28, 2012) -- The Houston Rockets have taken Connecticut guard Jeremy Lamb at No. 12 in the NBA draft, a pick they nabbed in a trade with Milwaukee this week.

The 6-foot-5 Lamb entered the draft after just two college seasons. He averaged 17.7 points and 4.9 rebounds for the Huskies last year and became just the sixth sophomore in Connecticut history to score 1,000 career points (1,060).

The Rockets then selected Iowa State forward Royce White with the 16th pick in the NBA draft, their second of three first-round selections.

The 6-foot-8, 270-pound White initially enrolled at Minnesota, then transferred to Iowa State, where he played his lone college season. He averaged 13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds and five assists per game last season.

Houston selected Kentucky forward Terrence Jones with the 18th pick in the draft, their third and final selection of the first round.

The 6-foot-9 Jones played only two college seasons, and averaged 12.3 points and 7.2 rebounds last year, helping the Wildcats win the NCAA championship.
