IOC Wants Lance Armstrong’s Bronze Medal Back

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (September 9, 2013)—The International Olympic Committee wants disgraced Texas cyclist Lance Armstrong to return the bronze medal he won in 2000 in Sydney.

IOC Vice President Thomas Bach says Armstrong and the U.S. Olympic Committee have been asked to give back the cycling medal.

Armstrong was stripped of his seven Tour de France titles and banned for life from elite sports and the IOC also stripped him of his bronze medal.

Bach says there is no legal dispute.

Bach says "what we are lacking - sadly but I hope we can still come to the result - is just getting back the medal. But legally the case for the IOC is closed."
