(July 12, 2013) -- The NBA Draft night trade sending 42nd overall pick and former Baylor guard Pierre Jackson from the Philadelphia 76ers to the New Orleans Pelicans became official Friday.
Jackson, who led the Big 12 in scoring and assists last season, a part of the trade sending all-star guard Jrue Holiday to New Orleans for 6th overall pick Nerlens Noel out of Kentucky.
The delay in finalizing the trade stemmed from the Pelicans' inability to absorb Holiday's salary until the new salary cap was set for the 2013-2014 season, along with the newlywed Holiday's going on a honeymoon.
The 23-year-old point guard inked to a four-year, $41 million extension he signed last October with the Sixers, a few months before making his first All-Star appearance.
Jackson is expected to join the team for NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas this weekend.
