LB Cushing Ready To Lead Houston Defense

Print

HOUSTON (August 2, 2012) -- Houston linebacker Brian Cushing has always tried to be a leader for the Texans.

Now that former defensive stalwarts DeMeco Ryans and Mario Williams are gone, Cushing knows that "a lot more eyes" will be on him. And the fourth-year player is just fine with that.

Cushing bounced back from a suspension-shortened 2010 season by piling up 114 tackles, four sacks and two interceptions last year for Houston.

He was unhappy that Ryans was traded to Philadelphia in the offseason, but soon realized that the departure meant the team would need even more from him this season.
