(April 17, 2013) -- Ieshia Small has signed a National Letter of Intent for 2013-14, Baylor head coach Kim Mulkey announced Tuesday. Small completes Baylor's five-player class, four of which signed during November’s early signing period.
Small, a 6’0 guard from Tallahassee, Fla., attends Florida High School where she plays for Lisa Kelley. She is a 2013 McDonald’s All-American, Florida’s Gatorade Player of the Year and is ranked No. 3 nationally in her position and No. 19 overall. Small averaged 25 points, nine rebounds, 5.4 assists and five steals as a senior.
Small played AAU basketball with Essence where her teammates were current Baylor freshmen Niya Johnson and Alexis Prince.
“Ieshia is a speedy, ultra-athletic guard that can play anywhere on the perimeter. She is a fierce competitor, an all-around complete player and will provide size, rebounding and scoring on the perimeter. Despite all of the challenges that life has dealt her, Small exhibits a determination and spirit that will fit our program well,” said head coach Kim Mulkey.
Small complete Baylor’s 2013 recruiting class which includes Khadijah Cave, a 6-4 center from Laney High School (Augusta, Ga.), Nina Davis, a 6-1 forward from Memphis Central High School (Memphis, Tenn.), Breanna (Bre-Bre) Hayden, a 5-10 guard from Madison High School (Dallas) and Imani Wright, a 5-11 guard from Liberty-Eylau (Hooks, Texas).
