Lady Bears To Visit White House

WACO (July 11, 2012) -- Baylor’s women’s basketball team, with the program’s second NCAA National Championship to its credit, will visit the White House on Wednesday, July 18.

The top-ranked Lady Bears navigated the 2011-12 season with an NCAA record 40-0 mark en route to claiming the national crown. Led by head coach Kim Mulkey, national coach of the year, and national player of the year and Honda Cup winner Brittney Griner, the Lady Bears defeated Notre Dame, 80-61, in the title game, April 3.

The Baylor contingent of players, coaches and support staff will arrive in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday and will meet with President Obama in the Rose Garden in the afternoon as well as the Texas congressional delegation before returning home.

The trip marks the Lady Bears’ second trip to the White House, as they visited in 2005 after claiming the NCAA crown.
