(October 14, 2013) -- The McLennan Highlanders shot 301 to sit in second place after the first round of the NJCAA Division I National Championship Preview in Burlington, Iowa.
Indian Hills is in first place with 300 and Central Alabama is third with 306.
Other team scores: Odessa, fourth, 308; Dodge City, fifth, 313; Wallace State, tied for sixth, 314; Iowa Western, tied for sixth, 314; Johnson County, eighth, New Mexico, ninth, 328; Hutchinson, 10th, 331; and Garden City, 11th, 341.
Individual standings were not available. Round two was postponed due to darkness. Play will resume Tuesday morning with round two, immediately followed by round three.
The McLennan Highlassies shot 326-301 − 627 to sit in fifth place after day one of the Lady Red Wolf Classic at the par-72, 6,138-yard Sage Meadows Country Club in Jonesboro, Ark.
Louisiana-Monroe is in first place with 294-281 − 575, followed by Arkansas State A in second with 301-286 − 587 and Western Kentucky in third with 294-304 − 598.
Sophomore Hannah Duvall shot 79-69 − 148 to lead the Highlassies and is tied for ninth place.
Other McLennan scores: Aries Ramirez, tied for 16th, 78-77 − 155; Fabiana Salazar, tied for 16th, 80-75 − 155; Anya Anders, 32nd, 91-80 − 171; and Allison Flores, tied for 33rd, 89-84 − 173.
Other team scores: Central Alabama, fourth, 300-310 − 610; New Orleans, sixth, 323-309 − 632; and Arkansas State B, seventh, 328-324 − 652.
The tournament will conclude with the final round Tuesday morning.
