MCC, Temple Fall In Corsicana

(November 15, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlanders fell to the Angelina Roadrunners 73-68 in double overtime tonight at the Lewis Orr Classic in Corsicana.

The game started extremely slow with both teams struggling to find a rhythm. The Highlanders built a seven-point lead, but the Roadrunners fought back tying the game at 18 with 6:29 to play in the half. MCC responded with a 12-2 run to take the first double-digit lead of the game and held the 32-24 advantage at the break.

The Highlanders extended the lead to 12 early in the second half but Angelina began to chip away. MCC led 49-44 with 3:35 on the clock. The Roadrunners used a 7-0 run in the next two minutes to take the 51-49 lead. The Highlanders went 4-4 from the free throw line to regain the lead but LeMon Gregory's bucket with 5.2 seconds to go tied the game, forcing overtime.

The teams remained tied at 60 following the first extra period. Angelina opened the second overtime on a 4-0 run and drained 9-10 free throws to seal the win.

Tevin Hanner led the Highlanders with 19 points and Devonse Reed scored 13.

MCC will face Jacksonville at 3 p.m. Friday in Corsicana.

Temple College fell to Jacksonville tonight 85-80. Jordan Roach led the Leopards with 23 points and Terry Johnson chipped in 20 points.

Temple will take on 17th ranked Navarro Friday at 7:00 p.m.
