MLB Honors Jackie Robinson With Ballpark Tributes

NEW YORK (April 15, 2012) - Major League Baseball is honoring Jackie Robinson and his legacy with tributes at every ballpark.

From Dodger Stadium to Turner Field, there were celebrations on Sunday. Players, managers, coaches and umpires all wore No. 42 on Jackie Robinson Day to remember the 65th anniversary of the day he broke baseball's color barrier.

Robinson's daughter, Sharon, took part in an event with Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson and Los Angeles Angels pitcher LaTroy Hawkins at a youth ballfield in the Bronx.

Ralph Branca, Robinson's former teammate on the Brooklyn Dodgers, threw out the first ball at Fenway Park.

Los Angeles Dodgers star Matt Kemp tweeted: "Thank u Jackie Robinson!!!"

The Robinson family was set to take part in a ceremony Sunday night before the Angels played at Yankee Stadium.
