Moving Baylor to San Diego

SAN DIEGO (December 25, 2012) -- It took just a couple of hours for the Baylor football team to fly from Texas to San Diego for Thursday's Holiday Bowl against UCLA.

But what does it take to move all of the Bears' equipment halfway across the country and how much stuff does the team need to take?

Baylor director of equipment services Jeff Barlow said his staff packs nearly twice as much for the Holiday Bowl as they would for a normal road game. That's because the team practices in San Diego all week, on top of playing the game.

"We can go in and rebuild the truck," Barlow said. "We can build decks high, build decks low to create more space than we normally would have on a road trip.

"Usually, it's just an open truck and we can load it however we want to. For this, we had to create some space for drinks, trainers stuff, weights."

Barlow estimates that the team will haul 12 thousand more pounds than a normal road game for the Holiday Bowl.
