OSU Top Pick In Big 12 Preseason Poll

IRVING (July 18, 2013)--Oklahoma State University was picked as the favorite to win the Big 12 title in a preseason poll of media members who cover the league.

Six different teams got first-place votes in the poll released Thursday in advance of next week's Big 12 football media days.

The Cowboys got 15 of the 43 first-place votes and 365 points in the poll. Oklahoma, which shared last year's Big 12 title with Kansas State, was picked second with eight first-place votes and 355 points.

TCU was picked third with nine first-place votes, one more than Texas.

Baylor garnered its first-ever first-place votes and was picked to finish fifth in the 2013 Big 12 Football Preseason Poll, as voted on by media representatives who cover the league.

The Big 12 Conference had two six-team divisions for its first 15 seasons, and the Bears were never picked to finish in the top half of a division during that span. This year’s fifth-place projection is the Bears’ best since the league switched to the 10-team format in 2011. BU was picked sixth in 2011 and seventh last season.

Texas Tech, West Virginia, Iowa State and Kansas rounded out the poll.
