ASHBURN, Va. (September 3, 2014) Redskins quarterback and Baylor Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III on Wednesday was downplaying the notion that he's oversensitive to criticism.
"Trust me, I'm not worried about anybody liking me” he said.
Griffin was responding to a comment made this summer by coach Jay Gruden, who said Griffin wants to be loved by everybody and that's something that just doesn't happen in the NFL.
Griffin says he understands what his coach was trying to say and that he's learned that not being universally liked is the "nature of the business" and "the nature of human beings."
"Jay being here has helped me grow, helped me grow as a person,” he said.
Griffin and the Redskins open their season Sunday at Houston.
