WACO (September 3, 2013) -- Baylor (1-3) took a weekend’s worth of frustration out on SMU Tuesday night at the Ferrell Center as the Bears swept the Mustangs 25-17, 27-25, 25-22. Adrien Richburg set Baylor’s single match record for attack percentage in a three-set match (1.000) with 10 kills on 10 attempts to lead Baylor.
The Bears entered the match hitting just .226 as a team after dropping three matches on the road in Colorado, but Baylor hit .421 in the victory with Laura Jones leading the way with 14 kills. Richburg needed just one kill to qualify for record book’s minimum of 10 kills for attack percentage, and the sophomore middle hitter finished off her perfect match with a right-side attack on the 24th point of the final set.
Jones hit .429 and Zoe Adom hit .444 with 10 kills while Amy Rosenbaum paced Baylor’s effort with 46 assists. Defensively, Richburg had seven assisted blocks while the Bears had 10.5 as a team. SMU’s (2-2) Caroline Young had 11 kills in the losing effort, and the Mustangs hit .208 as a team in the loss.
