SMU Drops Baylor From 2013 Schedule

(February 20, 2013) -- Baylor will search for a 12th opponent to its 2013 schedule after SMU dropped the Bears from its schedule Wednesday.

SMU Athletic Director Rick Hart said the decision to drop BU was made to soften a difficult non-conference schedule.

"While this is a rivalry that both schools value, we decided it would be best if we did not play this season,” Hart said. "This was not an easy decision and was made only after careful deliberation."

The game was originally scheduled to take place September 14 at Ford Stadium. The Mustangs will replace Baylor with Montana State, set for September 7 at home.

The Bears will search for a replacement for SMU, they've already scheduled Buffalo and Louisiana-Monroe for non-conference play next season.
