DALLAS (January 3, 2014) When SMU hosts No. 17 Connecticut Saturday, beer will be sold for the first time at Moody Coliseum.
The game is the first sporting event at the coliseum since the venue's $47 million upgrade.
SMU officials say beer will be sold at men's basketball games and at occasional concerts.
SMU students age 21 and older will be limited to three beers per game, and stubs on wristbands will be used to confirm purchases.
Athletics spokesman Brad Sutton says SMU will monitor beer sales and decide whether to expand sales to Ford Stadium during football season or to other sports events at Moody Coliseum.
Alcohol is already permitted in the football stadium's luxury suites.
