Showers Chooses UTEP

(February 26, 2013) -- After announcing he was transfer from Texas A&M nearly a month ago, former Shoemaker standout Jameill Showers has decided on his new home.

The quarterback will head to El Paso to play for Sean Kugler and the UTEP Miners.

Showers tweeted this statement on Tuesday night, "Through it all, I'm still proud to call A&M my school. But it's time to start a new chapter in my life. I'm happy to say...I'm a UTEP Miner!"

Showers will have two years of eligibility with UTEP after graduating with his undergraduate degree at A&M. He will pursue a master's degree in construction management.

Showers passed for 359 yards with a 63.3 career completion percentage and also ran for 72 yards with three total touchdowns in his two years as a backup. He played behind now Miami Dolphins signal caller Ryan Tannehill and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel.
