Showers To Transfer From Texas A&M

(January 28, 2013) -- Former Shoemaker standout and Texas A&M backup quarterback Jameill Showers has reportedly been granted his release from the program on Monday and will transfer to another school.

Showers appeared in seven games this season, throwing for 319 yards, two touchdowns and one interception in 44 passing attempts.

The redshirt sophomore battled for the starting signal caller position at the beginning of this season, but lost out to eventual Heisman trophy winner Johnny Manziel. In the 2010 season, he served as a backup to current Miami Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill.

Showers has not yet decided on which program to transfer to as of Monday.

Billy Liucci of TexAgs.com who first reported the news Monday tweeted that Showers could have a short list of Texas Tech, Baylor, Cal and Arizona State.
