Swoopes Returns to Texas Tech as TV Commentator

LUBBOCK (November 8, 2012) -- Sheryl Swoopes is back at Texas Tech, this time as a television announcer.

The star of the Lady Raiders' 1993 national championship team will be the TV analyst for eight Texas Tech home games this season, the 20th anniversary of the NCAA title.

Texas Tech spokesman Travis Cram said Thursday that the 41-year-old Swoopes moved back to the Lubbock area earlier this year.

Swoopes, who also won three Olympic gold medals and the first four WNBA titles with the Houston Comets, scored a record 47 points to lead Texas Tech past Ohio State in the 1993 title game.

She played her 12th season in the WNBA with the Tulsa Shock in 2011.
