Talks Resume Between NFL, Refs Union

NEW YORK (September 26, 2012)—Quoting a person familiar with the situation, The Associated Press reported Wednesday that the NFL and its locked-out officials are talking again in an attempt to resolve an impasse that has created a firestorm over the use of replacements refs.

The talks began again Tuesday after both sides met through Monday night, breaking off at 2 a.m.

The person, who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the discussions were not made public, would not characterize the status of the talks.

Negotiations have been ongoing during the past week, but have taken on a heightened urgency since the "Monday Night Football" game when Seattle beat Green Bay 14-12 on a missed call by an official on the final play.
