(April 23, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlassies and Hill Lady Rebels split today's conference doubleheader in Hillsboro.
MCC shutout the Lady Rebels 2-0 in the first game.
The Highlassies scored both runs in the top of the third. Audrey Calvo singled and Victoria Alcozer doubled. Calvo came in to score on a single by Jill Jordan and Alcozer scored on a ground out by Jessica Smith.
Hill bounced back to defeat the Highlassies 12-7 in game two.
MCC began the scoring with four runs in the top of the third. Calvo drew a walk but was out at second on a fielder's choice by Alcozer. Jordan and Smith both singled, bringing Alcozer in to score. Taylor Kelm then launched a three-run homer over the left field wall.
The Lady Rebels got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third. Elizabeth Moore drew a walk and Andrea Moen singled. Kimberly Stanley followed with a single to score Moore. Ashley Deitz and Kailee Carr both singled to load the bases. Moen then came in to score on a fielder's choice by Jodi Ekster.
The Highlassies added one run in the fourth as Calvo singled, moved to second on a single by Brooke Jones and scored on a single by Alcozer.
Hill added three runs in the bottom of the fourth. Blake Tamplen, Denea Dixon and Moore singled to load the bases. Moen then singled to score Tamplen and Dixon. Stanley followed with a fielder's choice that advanced Moore to third and put Moen out at second. Moore then scored on a fielder's choice by Carr.
Jessica Smith drew a lead off walk for MCC in the fifth and scored on another Kelm home run.
The Lady Rebels added two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Ekster walked and scored on a home run by Iliana Hinojosa.
Hill rounded out the scoring with five runs in the sixth. Ekster walked and Tara Tague singled. Tamplen followed with a single to score Ekster. Moore was safe at first on a Highlassie error to load the bases. Moen then singled to score Tague and Tamplen. Moore came in to score on a single by Stanley and Moen scored on a passed ball.
MCC returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Grayson for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
