Two CenTex Schools Left In Playoffs

(December 13, 2012) -- Two weeks left in the high school football season and two schools are left in central texas for a chance to play for a state title.

"We build our schedule to prepare us to play this time of the year," said Mart head coach Rusty Nail. "We don't worry about our early season losses, we worry about what weaknesses were exposed in those losses, and we learned a lot from those. This team is what it is because of the preseason schedule we play every year."
"Cameron Yoe has great tradition and it always has. And I'm very proud of the fact that we've been able to come in and kind of add a little bit to that tradition," said Cameron Yoe head coach Rick Rhoades.

To find that tradition you don't have to look too far. Two years ago the same two schools were in the state title game.

"You have to experience in the playoffs and everything, you know, everybody feels a lot of pressure," said Mart linebacker Tyler Clay. "Being here we don't really feel as pressured as other teams that haven't been here."
"It helps a lot because they've been there, played the game and all that," said Cameron Yoe defensive lineman Edgar Luna. "So, getting prepared, it helps a lot of the other people who haven't been there."

To have players who have been there made these two schools trendy picks to win state titles this season.

"Everybody wants to play for a state title and I'm just blessed I can play for one my senior year, if I get the chance to," said Clay. "That'd be great to end my senior year playing for a state title."
"The motto for the season was unfinished business and I think we're sticking to that motto so far," said Cameron Yoe running back Keaton Denio. "So we'll see how it goes."

Mart plays Shiner in Round Rock and Cameron Yoe plays Newton in Shenandoah. Both games will start at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
