BELTON (February 13, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team is ranked second for the second straight week in the South Region in the NCAA Division III Regional Rankings released today. Hampden-Sydney is ranked #1 again in this week’s ranking. Emory University is ranked third, followed by Virginia Wesleyan. UMHB’s American Southwest Conference rival Concordia Texas is ranked fifth in the region and U.T.-Dallas is eighth, giving the ASC three of the top eight teams in the South Region rankings.
The NCAA Regional Rankings are used to determine seedings and selections for the NCAA Division III National Championships. This is the second publicly released regional ranking of the 2012-13 season and there should be one more publicly released ranking before the end of the season.
The Cru is currently 20-3 overall and 16-1 in ASC play. The Cru will host Howard Payne University for a 7:30 PM tip-off tomorrow night at the Mayborn Campus Center. UMHB will then close out the regular season with a 3:00 PM home game against Sul Ross State University Saturday. The Cru has already clinched the ASC West Division title and a #1 seed in the ASC Championship Tournament.
