UMHB Headed to Elite 8 For First Time in School History

SPOKANE, Wash. (March 16, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin Baylor men's basketball team is headed to the elite eight for the first time in school history after a 70-63 win over Whitworth Saturday in Spokane.

The Cru will face St. Mary's (Md.) in the regional semifinals in Salem, Va.

UMHB led the Pirates by as many as 12, but Whitworth stormed back to take the lead. The Cru got some big buckets from Thomas Orr and hit free throws down the stretch to hang on for the win.

James Allen led UMHB with 20 points.

This was just the second-ever appearance in the sweet 16 for the Cru.
