UMHB Men's Soccer Loses Heartbreaker to Hardin-Simmons

BELTON (October 26, 2012) --The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s soccer team played a tough match against conference rival Hardin-Simmons, falling 1-0 in double overtime. The loss drops UMHB to 10-4-1 on the season and 8-2-1 in American Southwest Conference action while Hardin-Simmons improves to 8-6-1 overall and 5-5-1 in conference play.

The Cru outshot Hardin-Simmons 11-7 in the match with John Williams and Derek Geels each recording three shots. Neither team was able to put a shot in the net, forcing the match into double overtime before a Hardin-Simmons corner kick resulted in an own goal by UMHB, giving the Cowboys the win. Brandon Stegmeyer played the entire match in goal for the Cru, recording two saves.

The Cru will finish the regular season with a 7 p.m. kickoff against Howard Payne University Saturday in Belton.
