UMHB Remains At Number 2 In AFCA Poll

Belton (September 30, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team held its ground in both major national polls this week as the Cru remained #2 in the nation in the American Football Coaches Association’s Top 25. UMHB is ranked #3 in the country in the D3football.com Top 25 for the second straight week.

The Cru grabbed four first place votes and 1,004 total points to hold steady at #2 in this week’s AFCA Top 25 Poll. Mount Union is ranked #1 with 38 first place votes and 1,046 total points. UMHB is the only American Southwest Conference program ranked in the top 25 this week, but Louisiana College is receiving votes, along with Trinity University, a team the Cru will face this Saturday.

The Cru held steady at #3 in the country in the D3football.com Top 25 Poll. UMHB took four first place votes and 595 total points in that ranking. Mount Union claimed 15 first place votes and 609 total points for the #1 spot and Linfield College is second with six first-place votes and 596 total points. Trinity University is also receiving votes in the D3football.com Top 25 Poll.

“This team needs to continue to develop and get better every week and I’m not sure we did that last week,” Cru head coach Pete Fredenburg said. “Our players need to enjoy every win because they are so hard to come by, but we also need to figure out how to get back to playing at a fever pitch and to keep moving this program forward.”

UMHB is 4-0 overall and 1-0 in American Southwest Conference play on the season following last Saturday’s 40-18 win over Sul Ross State. The Cru will return to action with its third straight home game this weekend. UMHB will host Trinity University (3-1) for a 6:00 PM kickoff at Crusader Stadium.
