Belton (September 4, 2012) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer player Ashley Teague has been named American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 3rd.
Teague, a sophomore forward from Houston, Texas (Cypress Community Christian), was the only player to score for the Lady Cru this weekend, helping UMHB to a 2-1 record. On Saturday against Southwestern, Teague scored off an assist from Eliza Faillace at the 58:50 mark, giving the Lady Cru a 1-0 victory. Teague scored the lone goal again Monday against Huston-Tillotson off an assist from Nathallie Morales and Maizey Cardy. She totaled 5 shots for the weekend and put four of those on goal.
The UMHB women are 2-1 on the season under new head coach Barry Elkins. The Lady Cru will travel to Texas College for a 4 p.m. kickoff Thursday and will open conference play against LeTourneau on Sept. 14th at 2 p.m. UMHB will return home to face East Texas Baptist on Sept. 20th at 5:30 p.m. at the Cru SportsPlex.
