UMHB Volleyball Splits Final Regular Season Matches

Georgetown (October 27, 2012) --The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team split two matches at the Southwestern University Halloween Tournament Saturday to close out the 2012 regular season. The Cru opened the day with a 3-0 victory over Our Lady of the Lake before falling to Trinity 3-0 to close out the day. UMHB is now 20-6 on the season and posts back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time since moving to NCAA Division III play.

UMHB opened the day with a 25-16, 25-18, 25-19 win over Our Lady of the Lake University. The Cru hit .282 as a team and added 13 team blocks. Sapphire Reid led UMHB with 10 kills. Shelby Prather posted 21 assists and six kills. Prather, Elise Butler and Kendra Feldmann had five digs apiece.

The Cru then fell to Trinity University 25-14, 25-22, 25-20 to close out the day. Lauren Powell had a team-high 12 kills and Reid added 10 more. Feldmann had a team-best 18 digs to lead four players in double figures and Prather recorded 32 assists.

The Cru will now advance to the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament next week in Abilene. UMHB will be the #3 seed from the ASC West and will open the tournament with a first-round match against Texas Lutheran University. The complete bracket for the ASC Tournament should be released Sunday.
