UMHB Volleyball Sweeps Sul Ross State

BELTON (October 5, 2012) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team controlled the match from the opening set as the Cru rolled to a 3-0 victory over Sul Ross State Friday night in Belton. The match closed out the opening day of the second American Southwest Conference Dig Pink Crossover Challenge.

UMHB posted a 25-16, 25-18, 25-22 victory to improve to 13-4 overall and 6-3 in ASC play. The Lobos fall to 1-13 overall and 0-9 in the ASC on the year. The Cru hit .230 as a team and posted five service aces and 12.0 team blocks in the win.

Tina Miller led UMHB with seven kills and Morgan Baker and Lauren Powell added six kills apiece. Shelby Prather posted 24 assists and Baker and Kendra Feldmann recorded 14 digs each. Cheyenne Dowdey had three solo blocks, including one on match point to close out the victory.

Lauren Aldana topped the Lobos with 10 kills. Josette Delgado had 32 assists and Aldana added a team-high 15 digs.

The tournament will continue with six more matches at the Mayborn Campus Center tomorrow. UMHB will face Texas Lutheran University at 12:30 PM before closing out the tournament with a 5:30 PM start against Howard Payne University.
