AUSTIN (October 12, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor volleyball team swept matches at Concordia University, earning 3-0 victories over Concordia and Sul Ross State Saturday afternoon in Austin. The Cru improved to 21-3 on the season and 10-1 in American Southwest Conference action.
UMHB opened the day with a 25-18, 25-18, 26-24 victory over Concordia University. Bianca Patterson led the Cru with eight kills while Sarah Toler and Lauren Powell each hit six. Kendall Pye assisted 17 kills with Prather adding 11. Defensively, Prather led the Cru with 13 digs with Powell and Kendra Feldmann each adding 10. UMHB recorded six team blocks, led by Patterson’s one solo block and three block assists. UMHB hit 31 kills and served six aces in the match.
The Cru swept the second match of the day 25-4, 25-15, 25-16 over Sul Ross State. Patterson and Katrina Kastmo led the Cru with nine kills each. Toler added eight while Abby Voskuil hit six. Prather led the Cru with 23 assists with Pye adding 15. Defensively, Kendra Feldmann recorded a match-high 21 digs. Cheyenne Dowdey led the Cru to five team blocks with one solo block and three block assists. UMHB totaled 30 kills and eight aces in the match.
The Cru will return to action Friday, Oct. 18th and Saturday, Oct. 19th with conference matches on the campus of Hardin-Simmons University. The Cru will begin action against the University of Texas at Dallas on Friday, Oct. 18th at 2 p.m.
