GEORGETOWN (April 9, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's golf team finished fourth at the Southwestern Invitational after two days of play in Georgetown. The UMHB women posted a 332-334=666, 18 strokes behind UT-Tyler’s 320-328=648 first-place finish. Southwestern University moved up a spot from yesterday, finishing in second with a 331-331=662 while Trinity University finished third with a 326-338=664. Schreiner University rounded out the top-five with a 351-328=679.
Kelly Gonyea (79-85=164) and Sara Eckert (85-79=164) led the Cru and finished tied for ninth individually. Emily Santos's 81-85=166 tied her for 13th place. Taylor O'Rear (85-84=169) and Ashley Garbade (81-88=169) finished tied for 18th, while Elizabeth Davis (83-87=170) and Allison Holly (81-88=170) placed in a tie for 24th. Victoria Thane fired a 96-86=182, placing her in 41st. UT Tyler's Laura Lindsey was the individual winner, carding a 78-78=156.
O’Rear finished the invitational ranked first in par-3 scoring. Gonyea and Santos shot second in par-4 scoring, while Eckert finished second in par-5. As a team, UMHB finished second in par-3 scoring, fourth in par-4 and fifth in par-5. UMHB led all teams with 10 birdies.
The UMHB women will return to action April 15-16 at the American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament held at Crown Colony Country Club in Lufkin, Texas.
