UMHB Women's Soccer Defeats Texas College

Belton (September 6, 2012) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team won their third consecutive game Thursday in a 2-1 road win over Texas College in Tyler, TX. The Lady Cru advances to 3-1 on the season, their best opening record since 2001.

Reigning American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week Ashley Teague put UMHB on the board first with an assist from Nathallie Morales. Senior captain Camryn Powell then capitalized on an opportunity when the Texas College goalkeeper was out of position, putting her shot in the goal for a 2-0 lead that carried the Lady Cru into halftime.

Texas College returned from half to score their lone goal of the game, in a one-on-one against goalkeeper Sarah Kathryn Robinson. Robinson recorded three saves in the game. UMHB recorded 26 shots in the contest, their highest count this season. The Lady Cru returns to action on Friday, Sept. 14th in opening conference play at Texas Lutheran. UMHB will then travel to Schreiner on Saturday, Sept. 15th before hosting East Texas Baptist at the Cru SportsPlex at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 20th.
