PINEVILLE, La. (October 20, 2012) – The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer team could not hold on to a 1-0 halftime lead, tying Louisiana College 1-1 Saturday afternoon in Pineville. The tie puts UMHB at 6-6-2 overall and 5-3-2 in American Southwest Conference action, while Louisiana College sits at 4-9-2 overall and 1-7-2 in conference play.
UMHB took a 1-0 lead when Jordan Powers converted a penalty kick at the 14:40 mark. The Lady Cru took that lead into halftime, but gave up a goal to Louisiana College’s Brianne Hopkins in the 66th minute. Neither team was able to score in double overtime, leaving the game tied at 1-1.
Maizey Cardy took four of UMHB’s 21 shots in the match, with Ashley Teague and Courtney Ferguson each recording three. Sarah Kathryn Robinson played the entire match in the net for the Cru, facing 17 shots and recording nine saves.
The Lady Cru will finish the regular season next weekend with home matches against Hardin-Simmons on Friday, Oct. 26th and Howard Payne on Saturday, Oct. 27th. Both games will kickoff at 5 p.m.
