UMHB Women's Soccer Wins 1-0 in Overtime

VICTORIA (October 12, 2013) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s soccer team grabbed a 1-0 overtime win over the University of Houston-Victoria Saturday afternoon in Victoria. The win improves the Cru to 9-2 overall this season.

Neither team was able to find the back of the net during regulation. The Jaguars outshot the Cru 11-7 in regulation, with goalkeeper Abbigail Minnix making three saves. The Cru took one shot in overtime before Briana Hester found the back of the net with one minute left in the period to give UMHB the 1-0 victory.

Hester led the Cru with three shots, while three other athletes added two each. UMHB recorded ten shots in the match, putting six of those on goal. Courtney Craig and Abbigail Minnix split time in the goal for UMHB, with Minnix earning the win after a three-save performance.

The Cru will return to action Thursday, Oct. 17th with a 5:30 p.m. match at the University of Texas at Dallas.
