UMHB Men's Hoops Opens NCAA Play On Friday

Belton (March 1, 2012) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor men’s basketball team will tip off its third straight straight NCAA Division III National Championships Appearance with a 7:30 PM tip-off against Trinity University tomorrow evening at the Mayborn Campus Center. The winner of that game will advance to take on either McMurry University or Whitworth University in a 7:00 PM start on Saturday with a trip to the Sweet 16 on the line. The Cru is hosting the NCAA First and Second Rounds for the first time in school history after hosting first round games each of the past two seasons.

The Cru is 25-2 on the season and advances to the NCAA postseason as an at-large team. UMHB will face a red-hot Trinity team that won its last 11 games to win the Southern Collegiate Athletics Conference and finish 20-8. McMurry (20-8), champions of the American Southwest Conference will face off with Northwest Conference champion Whitworth University (24-3) in a 5:30 PM First Round Game. The UMHB athletic department will offer free live video streaming and live statistical coverage of all of the games.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students and seniors. Tickets will be good for all games each day. There are no complimentary admissions to NCAA postseason events.
