UMHB Places Three On Preseason All-American Team

BELTON (July 12, 2012) -- The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor football team placed three players on the D3football.com Preseason All-American Team, released this week. The Cru had two First Team All-Americans and one Second Team selection.

Javicz Jones and Michael Coles were both named First Team All-American by D3football.com. Jones, a senior linebacker from Katy Morton Ranch High School, set UMHB and American Southwest Conference records with 141 tackles last season. He added 12 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, two intercepted, two fumble recoveries and a pair of forced fumbles. Jones was ASC and South Region Defensive Player of the Year last season. Coles, a senior offensive guard from San Antonio Stevens High School, helped clear the way for a UMHB rushing attack that averaged 291.0 yards per game and 5.5 yards per carry last season.

Running back Darius Wilson was a Second Team All-American selection. Wilson, a senior from Cy-Springs High School, ran for 1,339 yards and 16 touchdowns despite missing one game with an injury. He also caught 13 passes for UMHB.

The Cru football team went 12-1 overall and won its ninth ASC Championship and sixth overall after going 8-0 in league play. UMHB advanced to the NCAA Division III National Quarterfinals before falling to Wesley College 27-24.

The Cru will open the 2012 season with a 6:00 PM home game against Kean University on September 8th at Tiger Field in Belton. The UMHB football team will report to campus on August 11th.
