BELTON (September 23, 2013) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women's soccer player Ashley Teague has been named the American Southwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending Sept. 22nd.
Teague, a junior midfielder from Cypress, Texas (Cypress Community Christian) scored a season-high four goals in UMHB's 7-0 win over Texas College Tuesday in Belton. Teague came off the bench to give the Cru a 4-0 advantage early, putting two shots in the net in the 25th and 26th minutes and another in the 37th. She was the lone Crusader to score in the second half, totaling her number at four. Teague's four goals is the second-highest number of goals scored at UMHB during the Division III era. She now leads the Cru in goals this season with five.
The UMHB women will begin conference play next weekend with a 2 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 27th against Mississippi College and a 2 p.m. match against Louisiana College Saturday, Sept. 28th. Both matches will be played in Belton. The UMHB women are 5-0 this season, the best opening record of a UMHB women's soccer program in the Division III era.
