BELTON (March 21, 2013) -- University of Mary Hardin-Baylor women’s golfer Victoria Thane has been named American Southwest Conference Co-Women’s Golfer of the Week for the week ending March 20th. Thane, a sophomore from Stamford High School, takes that honor for the second time this year.
Thane fired a 79-76-80=235 to place third individually at the Jekyll Island Invitational. She earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team and finished just seven strokes off the individual lead. Thane’s play also helped lead the UMHB women to a six-stroke team victory over a 21-team field that included 15-time defending national champion Methodist University. Thane shares this week’s ASC honor with Schreiner University’s Amber Hernandez.
The UMHB women will return to action with the Bluebonnet Classic next week. That tournament will be played March 25th and 26th at Tangle Ridge Golf Club in Grand Prairie.
