West Advances To 3A State Final

(June 6, 2012) -- The first half of a potential all CenTex 3A state championship game is complete.

West moves on to Thursday night's title game after beating Sweeny 10-3 at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin.

The Trojans, in their second ever appearance at the state tournament, trailed 3-0 after the first inning, but responded with two runs. West tied the contest at 3 after a Holden Sykora RBI double. They took the lead for good later in the inning after Evan Eubanks singled to right-center to score Sykora.

West (32-8) now awaits the winner between Robinson and Texarkana Pleasant Grove. The game will start at 4:00 p.m.
