BURLESON (May 26, 2012) -- West Softball is heading to the 3A State Tournament in Austin next week. The Lady Trojans swept Kennedale Saturday in Burleson in the Regional Finals.
In the sixth inning of game two, West's Kelsey Hoelscher hit a grand slam to put her Lady Trojans up for good. In the end, West topped Kennedale 5-4 to advance to state.
For the second straight season, West has reached the state tournament. Last year, Head Coach, Guyla Smith's team lost in the state championship to Celina 5-1.
West now awaits the pairings for next week's 4A state semifinal at Red & Charline McCombs Field at the University of Texas. They will play on Thursday, May 31st, at either 9:00 am or 12:00 pm.
