WACO (April 11, 2012)—A source close to the Baylor University Athletic Department dismissed speculation Wednesday that head football coach Art Briles could leave Waco to replace fired Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino.

Briles is among those being mentioned as a possible successor to Petrino, whom the University of Arkansas fired Tuesday, saying he "knowingly misled" and engaged in reckless behavior in a relationship with a female football employee half his age.

Briles is on the radar after leading the Bears to their best season in 31 years, capped by a 67-56 victory over Washington in a high-scoring Alamo Bowl appearance and a Heisman Trophy—the school’s first—for quarterback Robert Griffin III.

But the Baylor source said Wednesday Briles and Baylor “are committed to each other the long run” and said nothing in the events at the University of Arkansas has changed that.

Petrino, 51, was injured in a motorcycle accident on April 1 and was placed on paid leave last week after he admitted he lied about the presence of employee, Jessica Dorrell, 25, who was riding with him.

Six months of telephone records now show that Petrino was in frequent contact with his mistress, including conversations before their motorcycle crash that led to his firing.

The Associated Press obtained Petrino's university cell phone records Wednesday through a Freedom of Information Act request.

They show that on April 1, Petrino and Jessica Dorrell talked for 16 minutes in the early afternoon before the motorcycle crash, which happened at around 6:45 p.m. on April 1.

The records also show that Petrino had a 22-minute conversation with Dorrell the day following the accident.
