(January 10, 2013) -- ESPN is reporting that the Dallas Cowboys have focused their search for a defensive coordinator on Monte Kiffin.

The 72-year-old Kiffin spent last season as the defensive coordinator at USC, under his son and head coach Lane Kiffin.

Kiffin spent 26 years as an NFL defensive coach and won a Super Bowl with Tampa Bay.

Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was a backup quarterback with the Bucs in 2004 when Kiffin was the defensive coordinator.

Kiffin created the Tampa 2 defense.

The Cowboys fired Rob Ryan on Tuesday after two seasons as defensive coordinator.
