Jets' Tomlinson: Dolphins Game Could Be My Last

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (December 29, 2011) -- Jets running back LaDainian Tomlinson says Sunday's game at Miami could possibly be the last of his career if New York does not make the playoffs.

Tomlinson, set to become a free agent, says Thursday that he will "wait and see" before deciding on whether to continue playing beyond this season, adding that he'll retire if the situation isn't right. When asked if he would hypothetically accept the veterans' minimum salary to return to the Jets, Tomlinson smiled and said, "I've got kids, man."

Tomlinson enters the regular-season finale needing 35 yards rushing to pass Jerome Bettis for fifth on the NFL's career list. He says if he plays, "it doesn't have to be here," but adds that he wouldn't want to play for a non-playoff contender.
