LeBron's 37 Lifts Heat Past Mavs

DALLAS (December 25, 2011) -- LeBron James had 37 points, 10 rebounds and six assists as the Miami Heat got a measure of payback for the NBA finals by opening this season with a 105-94 victory over the Dallas Mavericks that wasn't as close as the score suggests.

Maybe the pregame banner-raising ceremony left the Mavs emotionally drained or - more likely - the overhaul of their roster is slow to take hold because Dallas trailed by 15 after one quarter, 21 at halftime and 35 a few minutes into the second half.

Miami made it look easy, scoring at least 30 points in each of the first three quarters. James had the top highlight, tipping an alley-oop pass to Dwyane Wade so he could have the dunk.

Jason Terry led Dallas with 23 points.

Lamar Odom was ejected from his first game with the Dallas Mavericks.

Given a standing ovation when he entered during the first quarter Sunday, Odom still had fans cheering him when he walked off shaking his head midway through the third.

Odom was called for charging and didn't like the foul. Whatever he said about it was bad enough to draw a pair of technicals and an automatic ejection.

Odom, the NBA's reigning Sixth Man of the Year, was acquired from the Lakers on Dec. 11 for merely a trade exception. He had four points and four rebounds in 13 minutes. The forward made his first shot, a 3-pointer, and missed his next five.
