Baylor Finishes No. 1 In AP Women’s Poll For Second Straight Year

(March 18, 2013)--Baylor finished No. 1 in The Associated Press women's basketball poll for the second straight year Monday.

The Lady Bears were the top choice for the final 11 weeks of the season and received all 40 first-place votes for the fourth straight week.

Baylor (32-1) hosts the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament, which begins Saturday.

The only regular season blip for the Lady Bears was a loss to Stanford in the middle of November.

Baylor is followed by Notre Dame, Connecticut, Stanford and Duke.

The Irish edged UConn last Tuesday to win their first Big East tournament title.

Notre Dame's only loss this season came to Baylor.

California, Kentucky, Penn State, Texas A&M and Tennessee round out the first 10.

With so few games this past week, the Top 25 remained unchanged from the week before.
