INDIANAPOLIS (May 1, 2013) -- Junior Patrick Pradella and freshman Julian Lenz will represent the Baylor men’s tennis team in the individual portion of the NCAA Tennis Championships later this month in Urbana, Ill.
The NCAA Division 1 Men’s Tennis Subcommittee made the announcement Wednesday that Lenz and Pradella would be two of 48 at-large bids into the 64-man singles bracket.
The NCAA Singles Championships will be held at the Atkins Tennis Center on May 22-27 in Urbana, Ill., following the conclusion of team championship play.
Pradella finished the season ranked No. 30 in the ITA rankings after posting a 20-4 record playing predominantly in the No. 1 spot. Pradella recorded wins against eight ranked opponents including No. 13 Jonas Lutjen of Ole Miss and No. 19 Costin Paval of Oklahoma in the conference championships.
Lenz also had a strong year, finishing with a 26-9 record and ranked No. 51 in the ITA listings. He also defeated eight nationally ranked opponents during the course of the season including No. 18 Tom Jomby of Kentucky and No. 36 Florent Diep of Florida.
Sophomore Marko Krickovic was named as an alternant for the singles Championships after finishing the season ranked No. 72 and finishing the year with a 21-11 overall record.
Baylor women’s tennis sophomore Ema Burgic has been selected to take part in the singles portion of the NCAA Tennis Championships as well as the doubles event with partner Victoria Kisialeva later this month in Urbana, Ill.
The NCAA Division I Women’s Tennis Subcommittee made the announcement Wednesday that Burgic will be seeded in the 9-16 range of the 64-person singles bracket, while she and Kisialeva are the No. 4 seed for the 32-team doubles draw.
Burgic earned an automatic bid into the singles event by being the highest ranked player in the Big 12, while the duo’s selection was by virtue of the same method.

Burgic is currently ranked No. 10 in the country and holds a 40-8 mark overall. She has won 15 matches in a row to post a 23-5 dual-match record with all of those matches coming at the No. 1 position. Burgic is 24-6 against ranked foes on the season.
Burgic and Kisialeva, a redshirt freshman, are ranked No. 8 in the latest ITA listings. The duo has a 17-3 record on court 1 and a 23-3 mark overall. The BU tandem is 8-2 in its last 10 decisions, including four straight wins. Against ranked foes, Burgic and Kisialeva are 8-2.
As a team, the 19th-ranked Lady Bears will face third-seeded and 39th-ranked San Diego State in Evanston, Ill., in the first round of NCAA Team Championship action. That match is scheduled for Friday, May 10 at 11 a.m.
