The Baylor women’s golf team is in 15th place after shooting 9-over-par 297 in Sunday’s opening round at the Alamo Invitational at Briggs Ranch Golf Course.
The Lady Bears are seven strokes out of the top 10 entering Monday’s second round. Laura Lonardi and Natalia Perez both shot even-par 72 on Sunday and are in tied for 27th place individually. Maggie Beth Byers shot 3-over par-75 to put her in a tie for 58th place, and Hayley Davis had Baylor’s final countable score with a 6-over-par 78. Freshman Hadas Libman shot 12-over 84. Emma Carberry, who is playing as an individual, shot 5-over-par 77 to tie for 74th place.
Baylor players began the round from the 10th tee. Lonardi started out with a birdie on No. 10 and took the turn at even-par, then had a birdie and an eagle on the front nine. Every Baylor player had at least one birdie, and Davis led the team with four birdies, two in the front nine and two in the back nine.
