(March 22, 2012) -- The McLennan Highlassies swept the Cisco Lady Wranglers in today's conference doubleheader at Bosque River Ballpark.
Kelly Smith picked up the 1-0 game one win.
MCC scored the only run in the bottom of the third. Audrey Calvo and Kristyn Kolacek both singled. Calvo then scored on a single by Alli Akina.
The Highlassies needed extra innings to defeat the Lady Wranglers 4-3 in the nightcap.
MCC began the scoring with one run in the bottom of the first inning as Akina tripled and scored on a single by Taylor Kelm.
Cisco got on the broad with Shelby Fellers' solo home run in the top of the fourth.
The Wranglers took the 3-1 lead with two runs in the sixth. Fellers was hit by the pitch and Mackinzee Mayfield singled. A Highlassie error brought Fellers in to score and advanced Mayfield to second. Katy Harris then singled to score Mayfield.
The Highlassies tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Kristyn Kolacek and Akina both singled. Kelm followed with a fly ball that was dropped by the Cisco left fielder, allowing Kolacek and Akina to score.
MCC sealed the win with one run in the bottom of the ninth. Victoria Alcozer singled. Kelm was safe at first and advanced to second on a Cisco error, moving Alcozer to third. Jill Jordan then singled to score Alcozer and end the game.
The Highlassies return to action on Saturday, hosting Grayson for a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
